The Path of Least Resistance

“Energy moves along the path of least resistance and any change you attempt to make in your life will not work if the path of least resistance does not lead in that direction.”

A Man Named Pearl

March 23, 2009 · 1 Comment

I watched a documentary on HGTV last night that featured Pearl Fryar, a self-taught topiary artist.  He started his project in the 80’s to win “Yard of the Month” in his community.  He has continued his passion for his garden and shares his gift with the world.  Check out this inspiring video.

Full length documentary released November 25, 2008 by New Video Group.  Directed by Scott Galloway and Brent Pierson.

Attitude by Charles Swindoll

March 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

For the past couple days, I’ve been picking the “Responsibility” card from my angel word deck.  At the same time, this paragraph was recently shared with me by Rebecca Drzewiecki from the Motor City Connect group.  I think they are related and I wanted to share it.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convince that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.”                 — Charles Swindoll

Urge to Purge Stuff

March 19, 2009 · 1 Comment

One of the most beneficial things to do in feng shui is to purge household items that aren’t used and are not loved.  (This applies to offices and workspaces too.)  The reason is simple, things that we don’t use and things that we don’t love create energy blocks.  Clutter creates stuck energy and stuck energy will somehow show up in our personal lives.

Spring is the ideal time to purge.  There is more daylight, leaves begin to bud, flowers and shrubs begin to grow, etc.  The energy of spring is about movement after a season of  “quiet.”  Tapping into spring’s natural pattern of movement can assist in tackling a particularly distasteful project, like addressing decisions that have been postponed and have created clutter in your closets, cupboards, basement, garage, attic, drawers, shelves, etc.

If there you’re feeling an urge to purge, then harness the energy of spring and get on it!  You will be freer, your space will feel lighter, and your life will improve….I guarantee it!

The Importance of Views

March 14, 2009 · 1 Comment

Lately I’ve been really thinking about the importance of what we “see” day in and day out.  And “see” is in quotes because we  can easily become unconscious to our surroundings through our visual filtering systems.  Imagine if we didn’t have a visual filtering system when we were in the grocery store and in our daily lives.  To me, being bombarded visually all the time would be a  living nightmare!  Our visual filtering system, however, is a dual edged sword.  After a while, it’s easy to “forget” about things that may be staring us in the face!

Because of our visual filtering system, it is really important to move things around.  Moving things around makes them “new” and fresh and is an important component of feng shui.   That’s one of the reasons I love Trader Joe’s.  On a regular basis, they switch things up.  And because they do, I often notice shopping items that I’ve missed before and often buy new things.  After a while I get used to the changes and my visual filtering system just looks for things that are famaliar again.  Hence, I don’t really “see” as keenly as I did when the changes were first implemented.

What do you “see” on a regular basis?  What are your views?  Out your windows?  At your desk?  From your bed?  On your way to work?  Are they inspiring, uplifting, invigorating, and vibrant?  If they are not, remember just because you don’t “see” what’s around you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect you.

Whoa…I just scared myself…laugh!!!!

The Power of a Smile

March 6, 2009 · 2 Comments

Today’s a great day and I feel especially bubbly and vibrant.  There are a few reasons for this, (that I know of):  I did a clearing meditation last night, I slept through the night (very rare),  and the weather feels like spring, woohoo!!!

Since I have a busy schedule today, I went to Trader’s Joe’s first thing this morning….bed head and all.  When I was shopping I noticed an unusual number of people smiling at me.  It felt really cool.  I wondered if my bed head was entertaining and then I realized I walked into the store smiling.   When I checked in, I could feel myself beaming and it showed on my face.  And others noticed it and responded.

It was an awesome experience.  I encourage you to give it a try!
