Ball of Confusion

September 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

It is my desire to do inspiring and playful posts.  Most times that’s pretty easy….today, however, is different.  I’m finding myself in one of “those” weird limbo places, where the old doesn’t fit and the new isn’t solid.  It’s where seemingly simple choices are full of uncertainty and confusion.  I’ve heard that confusion is a high state of being…..it sure doesn’t feel like that to me.  It feels downright uncomfortable!

So what am I really being asked to do right now?  Truth is nothing…just being open in this state of confusion.  The opportunity is to trust that all is in divine order and that clarity will show itself.  However, I am impatient and I want clarity right now!!!!  Ironically, that’s probably why I feel confused and don’t like it!  I’m not in control and being in control feels safe.  Ahh….another ironic statement.  Truth is are we ever really in control?  For sure, I am free to make whatever choice I wish.  The challenge for me is allowing what is supposed to be, being open to what is supposed to be and not being afraid of what’s to come.   Can I do it?  Sure I can, will I?   …probably!!!!  (big smile)

Being Silly and Having Fun

September 2, 2008 · 4 Comments

I’ve discovered that being silly and playful is a very important part of life for me.  And yesterday I had an opportunity to exercise my silly muscle playing on the water with my young nieces.  Our sweet friends invited us out on their boat…a great way to officially end the summer season here in Michigan.  It was a glorious warm, sunny day.  My brother, his wife and two young daughters ( 5 & 7) met us with their boat and anchored next to us.

We played for hours swimming, pouring cold water on each other, throwing a football, ejecting each other off the rafts, pretending to be sharks and enjoying lunch.  It was heaven and I’m sore today.  It’s a good kind of sore, one that reminds me of the importance of play and laughter.  (Of which I’m reminded every time I twist my torso or raise my arms above my head!!!)

Here’s something else I did recently that was silly.  I used  Yearbook Yourself to superimpose my face onto heads stylized from different fashion eras.  What a hoot.  Here are the results:
